* DEFINITION
Functional text is a text used for everyday information. It is called functional because it helps you function in your day-to-day life

*KINDS OF FUNCTIONAL TEXT
1. Intruction

Instruction is an order to do something given by someone to the other.

2. Caution/Notice

Caution/Notice is a display placard which is used to give information to the public .

3. Announcement

Announcement is a spoken or written statement  which is announced to make something known publicly.
--> Spoken

To whom the announcement is dedicated.

~  Content

 What the announcement is about.

--> Written

Written announcement is more complicated and longer than the spoken one. The important parts in this announcement are:

~ The title/type of event

~ Date and time

~ Place

~ Contact person/address

4. Thing/shopping list

A thing list is a list of items in certain place

A shopping list is a list of items needed to be purchased by a shopper 

5. Congratulation card
Congratulation card is a card which is sent to congratulate on special or certain event, e.g. baby birth, graduation, promotion, etc.

6. Letter

Letter is written messages that shares a lively style, echoing the personality of the sender yet aimed at the mind and heart of the receiver

--> Personal letter

This kind of letter is usually sent from person to person who has emotional connection, e.g. from children to parents, from friend to friend, from lover to lover, etc.

--> Formal letter

This kind of letter is usually sent for business purpose, education purpose, etc.
